You will find three pages of this paper dedicated to Veterans Day.  Veterans Day is celebrated to honor and thank those who served in the United States Armed Forces. Veterans Day is also an opportunity to acknowledge the courage and dedication of veterans’ service to our country.  Our community is filled with these women and men who selflessly served and serve  our country, often putting themselves in harm's way to defend the freedoms we all enjoy.  I can’t say that I am good friends with each and every one of them, but the ones I am friendly with are some of the nicest people you could ever meet.  

  If you are a local veteran, I would like to cordially invite you and your family to Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City on Tuesday for the annual Veterans Day Dinner.  It is a wonderful dinner with no agendas, just great food enjoyed with great company.  The meal runs from 4-6pm and is free.  Zion Lutheran Church is located at 28005 Old Towne Road in Chisago City.  I will see you there.

 Thanks to Chisago City for hosting their newly revamped Halloween event for the kids on Friday.  As we all know, Friday started out fairly nice and then took a stark turn with rain and sleet in the early evening.  There were so many local trunk-or-treat events that I am sure the kids were able to cash in on tons of Halloween candy.  Our house had zero trick-or-treaters this year.  So if you see me in the near future please don’t comment on the few pounds I have gained, I know and I am working on it.

The Chisago Lakes High School Theater will soon be presenting their Winter musical “The Wizard of Oz”.  I had the pleasure of taking cast photos this week and it promises to be very entertaining.  I will say, there is one character that will surely steal the show.  Once you see the show, you will know who I am referring to. 

As a primer for the musical, the group will be hosting Storytime with Dorothy at the Chisago Lakes Library this Saturday.    Yes the title says Dorothy, but many other characters will be there as well.  Bring the kids and your cameras.  

The event begins at 1pm.

Speaking of the show, it will take place November 14, 15, 22 and 23.  You can purchase your tickets at https://clhstheater.weebly.com/.  At the November 15 show, they will host a munchkin party prior to the show for kids and adults to come enjoy.  So  arrive early for that one.

Thanks so much to all who have donated warm clothing to the homeless.  I have always said if you have a better place or charity to donate to, by all means please do so.  All we are is an avenue for you to clean your closets and donate to a great cause.
