Veterans Day, Children’s Shop Day
Many thanks to the women and men Veterans who made it out to the Veterans Day Free Community Meal Monday. I had the pleasure of serving the meal along with Joe Thimm, Dave Ertl and Kevin Stenson. There were 358 guests that took part in the meal which looked amazing. Another huge thank you to LeRoy and Matt Mitchell for their tireless work in the kitchen making such a wonderful meal. Thanks also to Emmy Lundeen and all of the many wonderful volunteers that helped this year. We have a truly amazing community.
This Saturday the good folks at First United Methodist Church in Lindstrom invite parents to bring their little ones for their annual Children’s Shop Day. Beginning at 10am, children will be allowed to shop for their loved ones with everything costing only a dollar per item. There is a limit of eight items per person. There will be coffee and cookies to enjoy during the event. The event runs until 12:30pm, so get there early.
Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City will once again be the site for the annual Chisago Lakes Community Thanksgiving Dinner.
I will write more about it next week, but I encourage you to look on page 10 for information. They are encouraging reservations be made.
I just wanted to mention that November 20 is “Give to the Max Day” in Minnesota and donations can be made currently. Chisago Age Well for example and many other local community organizations participate in and benefit from donations through the event. The address is GIVEMN.org and you will see all of the local organizations listed as potential recipients. The website is very easy to navigate.
We are now in the official turkey bingo season. Taylors Falls Lions and the Chisago Lakes American Legion will soon host their respective bingos.
Taylor Falls bingo will be held on November 21 at the TF Community Center and The Legion’s will be on November 22 at the Uncommon Loon.
