Turkey bingos and Gift Guide
We are now into full Thanksgiving mode. That means turkey bingos and community meals. I have said it a bunch of times, if you don’t have plans this Thanksgiving, please consider coming to Chisago Lake Lutheran Church to enjoy a free (good will) community Thanksgiving. The meal is prepared by a bunch of volunteers and has all the fixings. I have been part of the meal in the past, and it looks better than some of the meals we have had over the years.
All are invited, but they are urging you to please make reservations by November 24. The reason for reservations is to make sure they prepare enough food.
The meal starts at 12:30pm and if you would like take-out, pick up time is 11:30am.
Friday evening you and your family are invited to Taylors Falls Lions Club turkey and ham bingo at the Taylors Falls Community Center. The games begin at 6:30pm. I have been to this event before, and a word of wisdom, get there early. They will have food and beverages available for purchase.
Saturday if you didn’t win a turkey or a ham in Taylors Falls, you have a second chance. The American Legion is hosting their annual Turkey bingo at the Uncommon Loon Brewery in Chisago City. Bingo begins at 7pm with the first game being free. They will hold meat raffles throughout the evening and they also will have snacks and refreshments available as well as the Loon selling some great brews.
There is still one weekend left to take in the Chisago Lakes Theater musical Wizard Of Oz. The reviews have been terrific and the costumes are out of this world. Friday evening at 7pm and Sunday afternoon at 2pm are the last two runs of the show. You can get tickets online at: https://clhstheater.weebly.com/.
Next week will have our annual gift guide in the Press. You will find local businesses that are offering something special for the Holidays. I understand the ease of having those packages delivered to your doorsteps, but I urge you to at least try to shop local this year. There is room in the budget for both. We have some amazing businesses right here in our backyard, and to be honest, they offer items that you can’t buy on the website that will soon own the world. If we don’t support our own, we will not have a town to call our own.
Sunday, after about four minutes of trying to stomach watching the Vikings game, I went out for a walk with the dog. After about a half mile, the angst of the purple wore off, after about a mile and a half, the endorphins kicked in and I was feeling good and after two miles I contemplated calling home to come get me because I was tired....
