Ashlee Rose Klapperick, 36, charged with one count of vehicular homicide and two counts of bodily harm in connection with a crash last spring on Rush Lake Trail, in Nessel Township, was sent to Shakopee Women’s Correctional Facility Monday this week for 48 months.  She has been held for 224 days.

The crash resulted in fatal injuries to Klapperick’s 4-year old son.  A daughter was hurt but survived.  Investigators said both children were in safety seats.

Klapperick was reportedly under the influence of meth and not paying attention while behind the wheel of her Chevrolet passenger car, when she struck a mini-van nearly head on.

The second driver and one of three children riding with her,  sustained injuries that resulted in two counts of lesser charges of bodily harm.  The two counts with sentences of 14 months and 12 months, are being served concurrent with the four years’ sentence.  The plea agreement called for additional charges to be dismissed.

Restitution is being reserved.  Klapperick will provide a DNA sample immediately.
