Apple Festival was a great time

I hope you had a chance to visit Almelund’s Apple Festival last Sunday.  We went and the crowds seemed bigger than ever.  We had some absolutely incredible desserts that were made by Apple Festival volunteers.  We did grab a bag of apples (and yikes they are not cheap anymore) that we are still enjoying today.  Thanks to all who helped put on this wonderfully quaint event.  Take it from an outsider, we all love the apple festival.

This Saturday in Lindstrom Gladje invites everyone to their annual Art on the Block event.   This is a giant event  with over 50 artists and makers  that fill every open space on Gladje’s property.   Add a bunch of activities to that, which are family friendly as well as art demonstrations with food trucks and of course live music.  The event runs from 10am to 5pm and there is parking across the street behind Gladje at Lindstrom Trinity Lutheran Church.

Ok this is only going to resonate with some of our readers.  But having played fantasy football for as long as I can remember, the fall has always been a fun time for me.  I used to be in four fantasy leagues but have trimmed it down over the last five years to just two.  This year I pared it down to just one.  I joined a league that  you must win each week.  If you lose, you simply are done.  Two weeks into the season and what happens? I lose.  Now, instead of sitting glued to the tv following players on various teams I simply go outside and enjoy the day.  While I do miss the banter with the other team owners, I have already gotten a lot done around the house.  Win-win (if you ask my wife).

This Saturday the good folks at Trinity Lutheran Church invite you to drop off your gently used winter coats, boots, snow pants, mittens, gloves and hats for kids and adults for the annual Outerwear Fair being held in a few weeks.  The drop off is in the rear of the church and someone will be there to assist. You can drop off your donations from 9am to noon.

Congrats to the Wildcats on their homecoming victory over St. Anthony.  The weather tried hard to have a say in the game, but they managed to come away with a win.

That was such a weird deal in Mahtomedi where an armed robber in a nearby neighborhood caused the homecoming game to be cancelled due to safety concerns for the public.  Absolutely the right move to keep people safe.  The game was rescheduled for Monday of this week and the opposing team then forfeited the game for unknown reasons.  Happy homecoming seniors - yikes.
