Track team squeezing meets in
The first full team event for the Wildcat track team for the 2026 season took place indoors at the Wildcat Community Center on Tuesday, March 31. The Wildcats invited the North Branch Vikings and St. Francis Fighting Saints to Lindstrom for an early season meet. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams finished second.
Boys
Top finishers for the boys include Evan McGonigle, who won the 400 meters in 59.35 seconds, a personal best. McGonigle was the only competitor to finish the race in under a minute. The Wildcats swept the top two spots in the 800-meter run. Kaden Osmundson finished in first place with a time of 217.70, and Cian O’Halloran came in second two-and-a-half seconds later. Remy Larson overwhelmed the competition in the 1600-meter run, finishing in 5:05.65 – 18 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. The Wildcat relay team won the 4x400 relay in 4:07.38.
In field events, the Wildcats came in one-two in the shot put. William Pearson won the event with a throw of 49’1”, and Everett Otte’s second place throw was 47’10”. Jacob Grabow won the high jump with a jump of 5’10”. Lincoln Battles’ vault of 10’0” gave him the top sport in the pole vault. And Cohen Underhill’s jump of 19’7.5” was good for a second place finish in the long jump.
Girls
For the girls, Lauren Kowarsch won the 400-meter run with a time of 1:09.23. Annika Hall dominated the 800-meter run, winning with a time of 2:33.13, 20 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. Grace Steele came in second in the 1600-meter run in a personal best time of 6:49.09. McKaylie Malek’s time of 9.69 seconds was good for second in the 55-meter hurdles. The 4x400 relay team of Kowarsch, Kara Hall, Arianna Husfeldt, and Averiana Gellerman came in first with a time of 4:44.84, almost four seconds ahead of the team from St. Francis.
The Wildcats swept the top three spots in the shot put. Madison Eagle won the event with a throw of 34’10.5”. Marianna Cooksley finished second with a throw of 33’10.25”, and Hannah Kray’s toss of 31’11.5” was good for third place. Addison Griffin came in first in the long jump with a jump of 14’9”.
Chisago Lakes Triangular
For their first outdoor meet of the season, the Wildcats hosted Becker and St. Francis in the Chisago Lakes Triangular on Wednesday, April 9. The girls finished second and the boys finished in third.
Girls
The Wildcat shot-putters continued their domination of any and all competition. They took five of the six spots. Mari Cooksley won the event with a throw of 36’ 4.5”. Avery Remitz and Madi Eagle took second and third place, respectively. Linnea Carlson came in fifth, and Hannah Kray finished in sixth place. And the Wildcats swept the top three spots in the discus, with all three throwing over 100 feet. Eagle’s throw of 115’ 4” won the event. Carlson came in second and Cooksley finished in third place. Addy Griffin won the long jump with a leap of 15’ 1”, with Lexy Bartz finishing in third place. Mikenna Fritzke took second place in the high jump.
Annika Hall had the only first place finish among Wildcat runners. Her time of 5:18.09 was 45 seconds faster than the second-place finisher, from Becker. Rowan Klinkner came in second in the 200-meter dash and third in the 100-meter dash. Addy Griffin finished second in the 100. Averiana Gellerman ran to third place in the 400 meters, and Lauren Kowarsch raced to second place in the 800 meters. Joy Carlson and McKaylie Malek took second and third, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles. And Mariah Cave finished second in the 300-meter hurdles.
Boys
Everett Otte won the shot put with a throw of 48’ 10.75”, followed by Will Pearson in second. The boys took three of the top four spots in the discus. Pearson won the it with a throw of 133’ 1.5”, and Charles Boarman and Otte came in third and fourth, respectively. Lincoln Battles was the pole vault champion at the meet, springing 10’ 6”. Cohen Underhill came in second in the long jump, and Jacob Grabow finished second in the high jump.
Lincoln Perry had the only first place finish among the Wildcat boy runners, with a time of 2:23.77 in the 800 meters. Evan McGonigle ran to a third place finish in the 400 meters, and Anden Solberg came in third in the 3200.
