What an absolutely spectacular weekend Chisago City had for Ki Chi Saga Days.  We got a reprieve from the blistering summer-long heat and you could see the effect in the sheer number of visitors to the celebration.  Moberg Park was packed the entire time and there were people everywhere.  The parade was great as always and the street dance had a good turnout I am told.

Thanks so much to Doris and all of her wonderful workers and the volunteers who worked so hard to bring us so much fun.  

Next up Shafer Days and Amador AppleFest.

We are in such dire need of rain in Chisago County.  Our lawns are brown, the lakes are super low and our water bills are sky high.  I don’t think we can get enough rain to pull out of this current drought, but come on, how about a little rain?  

If you are like us, you too love using the existing Swedish Immigrant Regional Trail that currently runs from Taylors Falls to Shafer.  I have some sad news, the trail will be closed for at least three weeks beginning this week.  The closing is for resurfacing of the trail and fixing some spots that have deteriorated.  Then, when the trail does re-open it will close soon after for hunting season as it does every year.  Both Allemansratt Park and Ki Chi Saga County Park offer great alternatives and if you are looking for a great paved path to walk, try the walking path at Wild River State Park near Almelund.

Just because summer is coming to an end, that doesn’t mean the Free Community Meals are stopping.  Come on out on Monday afternoons to enjoy a wonderful home cooked meal at Zion Lutheran Church in Chisago City.  The meals run from 4-6pm and are free.  They do ask for a goodwill donation but if that’s not possible then just come on in anyway. They would love to serve you and your family.  The folks that put the meals on are such wonderful people and they have been doing this for 12 years now.  They are always looking for volunteers to help serve the meals so if you have a group that is looking for community service hours to volunteer, by all means give them a call at (651) 257-2713.  Thanks in advance - we will see you at the meal!

Just a reminder that we are not yet taking winter clothing donations for the homeless.  The shelter just doesn’t have room to store warm weather apparel along with the warm weather clothes they already are utilizing.
