What amazing weekend weather we had for the Celebration of the Lakes.  We don’t get many of these warm temps for the celebration so we need to enjoy them when they come.  

I would like to thank all of the great people who took this year’s celebration under their wing and made sure it didn’t miss a beat.  For them to step up when the celebration was in question this year just goes to show how much our community means.  Thank you to all the volunteers - you are the best!

Last Sunday I took another gigantic load of clothing donations to the homeless shelter in Minneapolis.  The people there are always so thankful and gracious when we bring the clothing you have donated.  This time however, one of the employees stopped me and asked how do I possibly collect this many clothes so often?  That’s when I told them it is a community effort and all I am is a vehicle for the message and for the clothing itself.  I told them it’s you, the readers, who have been so supportive of their cause and as long as the donations come in, I will be transporting them to those most in need.  They looked me in the eye and asked, “Can you possibly tell the readers that we love them and their donations?”  So there you have it, if you ever were wondering if donating is actually making a difference - you have your answer.

 My favorite season is upon us — eating season.  I know I know, you are thinking his season must be year ‘round.  To be specific I am referring to fish fry season.  I love my fish fry meals.  A local fan favorite in our area is St. Bridget of Sweden Catholic Church fish fry. It kicks off tomorrow (Friday) and runs through Lent.  The meal runs from 5-7pm with to-go orders available from 3:30-4:30 prior to the serving.   Did I mention that it’s all-you-can-eat?  Sign me up.
