Celebration of Lakes is upon us
As I wrote here last week, the Celebration of the Lakes version 2026 is still on. While the Chamber is not spearheading the event, the good folks at Chisago City and a bunch of great volunteers have stepped up so our community can continue to enjoy the event we have come to love over the years.
This year’s event will take place February 12, 13, 14 and 15. The bulk of the “on ice” events will be in the same place as last year, on South Lindstrom Lake towards Chisago channel. This includes the radar run, car racing, youth snowmobile racing, food and drink vendors, sauna, and turkey bowling.
North Center Lake willbe host site for an ice fishing tournament and ice golfing February 15.
There are many events related to the Celebration of the Lakes that will take place all around our area including Taste of Chisago Lakes at the Loon, a vendor fair at Jake’s on the Lakes, a candlelight walk in Allemansratt Park, a murder mystery at Winehaven, pickleball tournament at the Wildcat Center, a lasagna dinner at CL Lutheran Church, a sweetheart dinner at Gustaf’s Eatery, a “Grumpy Old Men” themed church service at CL Lutheran, pancake breakfast and bingo at Trinity Lutheran and a patio party at Jake’s on the Lakes.
All of the events can be seen on page 12 of this edition of the Press.
We here at the Press are changing our subscription software. Our good friend and associate for decades (who resides in New York) has to step down and tend to personal matters. We had to pivot and will now be using a new company. Nothing will change with your newspaper, but you will see some different types of mailers from us in the future. Gone are the days of our blue card renewals that we used to send out in March. You will now receive a letter with our logo and your subscription information as well as a return envelope. I just wanted to let you know ahead of time, so you don’t think it is some type of scam.
We wish Dawn in New York all the best.
Thanks to all of you who have reached out to me after my column two weeks ago. It was the one where I said I was just beat down and tired. I didn’t mean for it to come off as my mental state was teetering (although I have a wife who may say otherwise) rather just offering how exhausting our world is at the moment.
