I cannot believe the summer celebrations are here.  Yes it has been beyond uncomfortable with high temps and high humidity, but it seems like it was just freezing outside, and summer would never arrive.

Lindstrom is the first municipality along Highway 8 to showcase itself with Karl Oskar Days celebrating its 200th anniversary (yes I know it hasn’t been 200 years but it has been going for a long time) Beginning Wednesday we ease into the celebration with a tent art sale at Gladje, the Lindstrom Farmers Market is open and there’s Harmony in the Park. Wednesday is also the first day the snuff box clues will be posted.  This year’s prize is provided by Wally Carlson's Amoco, Security State Bank of Marine, the City of Lindstrom and the Chisago County Press.  Be the lucky finder and walk away with a cool $1,000 cash.  Remember the snuff box will only be hidden within the city limits so if you are unsure of the limits simply go to your maps on your phone and type in Lindstrom MN.  Good luck to all the hunters.

Thursday features Kristina’s Night, which is ladies night in downtown.  From 3-8 p.m. you will find awesome specials and giveaways at local stores.  Grab your friends, your daughters and head uptown for some real fun.  The evening wraps up with a corn hole tournament that starts at the Muni at 6:30pm.

Friday, things really get cooking beginning with a photography show at the Lindstrom Visitor Center (formerly the Chamber building).  A couple blocks away, at Beach Park, the Karl Oskar Days Fair will run from 4-9pm and will feature 20 food trucks and over 50 vendors with inflatables and a petting zoo. Memorial Park will feature live music all day long.  The Moberg bust statue dedication takes place in our front yard at 4:30pm.  The fire hall will be hosting brews and tunes at 7:30pm at the new fire hall.  There will be an outdoor movie shown in the outfield of Pat Collins Field at the high school beginning at 9pm. The night caps off with a bigger, better fireworks show at beach park at 9:30pm.

Saturday is packed as well with the Loppet run at 8am at Lakes Free church, also at 8am is the popular pickleball tournament in the Wildcat Community Center.  Trinity Lutheran will be the spot for the annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament beginning at 9am.  There is a massive car show in the St. Bridget of Sweden church parking lot all day Saturday.  The Masons will once again be holding their annual corn feed all day as well.  Trinity Lutheran will celebrate its 125th anniversary from 1-3pm.

The giant Karl Oskar Days parade will make its way around town beginning at 6pm.  The night caps off with the popular band Drink 182 playing at the street dance at the muni.

A lot to take in, but the beauty of these summer events is you can come and go as you please.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate with us.  See you out there.
