From KOD to Wannigan Days
What a fantastic weekend Lindstrom had for the Karl Oskar Days celebration. It finished right before this current inferno week began. The entire event was very well attended with the parade being as full and as crowded as I can remember. It was full of great floats and tons of candy and it moved along better than it ever has.
The fireworks on Friday evening we also better than I can ever remember. I know they bumped the budget up this year and boy, could you tell.
The snuff box hunt didn’t go quite as long as we hoped but we still got three full days of searching before Porter Anderson and his mom figured out the third clue. For those of you who were looking, the box was located next to the 14th golf hole along 288th Street, attached to the bottom of a turtle crossing sign. Thanks to Security State Bank, Carlson’s Amoco and the City of Lindstrom in helping us raise the stakes on the snuff box winnings. It really draws a crowd hunting for the box.
Everyone everywhere seemed to be having a great time, so thank you to the City of Lindstrom, Tom and his crew, Payton and his crew, and all who volunteered to make this such a great event.
This weekend (hoping the weather breaks) is Wannigan Days. The celebration is and has been shared between Taylors Falls and St. Croix Falls which makes it very unique. What it means for you is there is twice as much to do, if you choose to.
Keep in mind, they are running a free trolley that will take you to St. Croix Falls and back so you don’t have to fight bridge traffic.
Friday features a great car show in the Fire Department parking lot from 5-7pm There is bingo at the community center (old depot) beginning at 6:30pm and there is a live band featuring “The 70’s Magic Sunshine Band” on the big stage downtown at 8pm.
Saturday begins with a great meal at the Lumberjack Breakfast at the community center from 8-11am. There ‘s fun and games in the Wannigan Park all day with lumberjack shows at noon and 2pm. There is a petting zoo, inflatables, face painting and food all located within the park.
There is a dunk tank by Romayne’s as well as food vendors that will take you right up to the popular Wannigan Days parade.
The parade begins at 6pm in St. Croix Falls and makes its way across the bridge ending in Taylors Falls. Saturday evening caps off with a live band The Skitzo Fonik performing on the big stage with the fireworks show over the river, beginning at 10pm.
