Visit Midsommar in Lindstrom
This week and weekend is the annual Midsommar event in Lindstrom. The event which had a wonderful turnout its first year is back again and filled with fun for the whole family. The event kicked off with Elvis headlining the Harmony in the Park.
On Thursday, the 2026 Chisago Lakes ambassadors will be crowned at the Lindstrom Fire Hall at 6pm.
Friday downtown is the place to be for wonderful sales at most all the stores downtown with sidewalk sales. There will be festivities taking place all around town as well.
Saturday beginning at 10 am, there will be an opening ceremony followed up with the naming of the giant dala horse. I nominated Matt Silver for a name but they told me it was a horse not a donkey.
The coffee pot will resume steaming every hour on Saturday until 3pm. There are Kubb matches, the GOAT parade, a maypole, cloggers and the 2026 GOAT being crowned at noon. There will be a performance from the local ukulele band with two music concerts beginning at Beach Park at 4pm.
Grab the family, come up town for some great food and fun times.
This week you will be receiving your 2026 Chisago Lakes Area Community Guide. Our largest publication of the year, the guide is jam packed with local information you can keep the entire year and use as a reference. We are blessed to have so many great advertisers that wish to be included in the guide. We hope you enjoy the guide as much as we enjoyed creating it. If you don’t get a guide, just stop in the Press here in Lindstrom and pick up a copy or two.
Happy 90th Birthday to one of our dear friends and loyal readers Jan Schneider. I have known Jan for a very long time and she is such a sweetheart. It helps that her late husband Dave was my favorite teacher growing up here in Chisago Lakes.
I had the chance to take photos at the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office awards ceremony last week. What an amazing group of men and women we have working to protect our area. You can find all the photos and a write up about a young boy who saved his grandmother’s life on page 8.
Please remember that Harmony in the Park is up and running, as well as North Branch is beginning their Concerts in Central Park next Tuesday. Grab your lawn chairs or blanket and have some fun.
Thank goodness it has been raining here lately. It was looking quite bleak for a while. There were three weeks where I mowed the Press lawn with just a weed whip. Our lakes are still super low, so c’mon Mother Nature hit us with another round please.
