Miss the expo conversations
As we progress through this late winter early spring, it is getting a bit odd, not having the annual home and business expo. The home show began way back in 1979 and has been a staple of our area since that year. As I explained before, the Chisago Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce is in the process of a makeover or re-branding and they were just simply short staffed which hindered this year’s show. I fully understand the reasoning behind re-starting the show next year, but for the last 20 plus years I have attended the show and enjoyed talking with all of the visitors at the show. In fact, the running joke in my house is that I am a live version of the Progressive commercials on TV. Apparently I miss all of the talking I did at the home show and now I talk to strangers at the store.
We took in one of the local fish fry nights last Friday. It was so amazing and very filling as well. We have some great options for your fish fry hankerings in our area. I am told that Trinity Lutheran in North Branch has a great fish fry as well. We may head there this Friday.
We took a walk out on the lake Sunday to survey the scene after all of the fish houses were removed. In the past we have been disheartened by the junk that some people have decided to leave behind. Everything from dead car batteries, to full size truck tires and of course plenty of empty beer bottles.
This year I am happy to say the lake looked amazing. Instead of the usual junk left behind, we only found two ice-fishing rods and reels that I think the owners may have misplaced because they are in fine working condition.
And, Thanks to all who recently donated to the homeless shelter. Again they asked to please let you know how much they appreciate your generosity. You people never cease to amaze me, as I write this (I took a full load on Sunday) there’s currently another pretty sizable load that will need to be delivered in a week or so. Thank you so much.
