Chisago Lakes split a pair of games last week, overpowering Duluth  12-8 before falling in a tight 6-5 battle against Big Lake/Princeton.

Chisago Lakes 12, Duluth 8

The Wolfpack have been a constant thorn in CL’s side for the last five years, with some section and regular season battles coming right down to the wire, but Chisago Lakes used a balanced offensive attack to pull away from Duluth at home on May 6.

Dylan Cuffel led the offense with five goals, consistently finding openings around the crease and giving the Wildcats a reliable scoring option throughout the night. Landon Kerkow added three goals and two assists, while Oliver Bushweiler contributed two goals and an assist.

The Wildcats also received offensive contributions from Liam Sullivan and Nolan Clark, who each scored once. Defensively, Austin Slettom collected six ground balls to help Chisago Lakes control possession.

Goaltender Chase Miller turned in a strong performance in net with 11 saves.

One night later, Chisago Lakes came up just short in a back-and-forth matchup at Big Lake High School, losing to the western co-op for the first time in school history. Cuffel again paced the Wildcats with three goals, while Bushweiler added two more scores. Slettom chipped in a pair of assists and four ground balls.

Chisago Lakes battled defensively throughout the game, getting nine saves from Miller and two more from Lucas Richert in limited action, but Tiger Hornet combo managed to hold on for the one-goal victory over CL, sending them to a 3-6 record so far on the year.
