Memorial Day is more than fun
This weekend is Memorial Day weekend. That means the bulk of us get to enjoy an extra day off on Monday. While most of us use it for catching up on yard work or enjoying a picnic with family, sometimes we miss the real reason for the day off.
This is our chance to honor the men and women who have dutifully served our great country over the decades. These incredible people chose to serve the country that labels itself “The Land of the Free” and it is because of these folks that we consider our country free. They have sacrificed their lives to ensure our safety and I for one am eternally grateful for that.
This paper has a section of Memorial Day events that the public is encouraged to participate in. There are many services at many times around the area that you can come to pay your respects. I have been to a bunch of these, and trust me when I say they will not take up your entire day. Many of them take 15-20 minutes. They are incredibly moving and our local Vets do such a wonderful job.
If you are a Vet or a family member was a Vet, please accept my “Thank You” and believe me you do not go unnoticed.
If you are a father of a teenage boy who used your very nice Ranger bass boat last weekend, you need to have a talk with your son.
I watched (from the shore thankfully) as this teenager blasted in and out past multiple pontoons and fishing boats at the speed of light. They put their lives as well as others in danger. I don’t mean to come off as a “stay off my lawn” type but someone could really have been hurt.
Thanks again to all who have mailed your subscription renewal payments to us. This year’s campaign is going great and if you have yet to send yours in, simply send a check along with the blue card to Chisago County Press, PO Box 748, Lindstrom MN 55045.
We will make sure you don’t miss a single issue. Thanks for reading the Chisago County Press - we appreciate you!
