Unbeaten ‘Cats cruise

A dominant spring kept rolling along last week, as the Chisago Lakes girls lacrosse team blasted Monticello 18-3 on Tuesday, May 12 before taking down a tough Hill-Murray squad 13-7 on Thursday, May 14 at Chisago Lakes High School.

The Wildcats improved to a perfect 11-0 on the season and continued building momentum heading into the final week of the regular season.


Chisago Lakes 18, Monticello 3

Against Monticello, Chisago Lakes overwhelmed the visitors early, jumping out to a 9-0 first-quarter lead and never looking back. The Wildcats controlled possession throughout the night and outshot Monticello 24-12.

Camryn Hinsch led the offensive attack with five goals and two assists, while Naomi Eaton added three goals and an assist. Raeann Goehring was a major distributor with one goal and five assists, and Linnea Carlson scored three times.

The Wildcats also received goals from Madelyn Barten, Madelyn Rambosek, Grace Nelson, Kate Friedner and Katelyn Anderson in the balanced effort.

In goal, Michaela Altendorf stopped 10 shots as the Wildcats defense limited Monticello to just three goals.

The win wrapped up yet another Missisppi 8 Conference championship for the ‘Cats.


Chisago Lakes 13, Hill-Murray 7

Two days later, the Wildcats faced a tougher challenge from Hill-Murray but still controlled the game from the start. Chisago Lakes built a 4-1 lead after the first quarter and carried an 8-2 advantage into halftime before closing out the 13-7 victory.

Hinsch again paced the offense with five goals and one assist, while Eaton finished with three goals and two assists. Carlson added three more goals for the Wildcats, and Goehring contributed a goal and an assist. Barten also scored in the win.

Altendorf had seven saves in net.

The Wildcats closed the regular season with a win over Forest Lake on Tuesday, May 19 and finishing up with Breck, Thursday, May 21. Chisago Lakes is expected to earn the top seed in Section 7A as the Wildcats look to make their second straight trip to the state tournament after breaking through for the first time in school history last year.
