This weekend there are a bunch of events for you to take part in.  Wyoming is hosting their annual Stagecoach Day, Shafer is hosting their annual Shafer Days and Sunday is Almelund’s Apple Festival.  

Shafer Days runs Friday and Saturday and has plenty of fun to take in.  The very popular cash bingo is Friday night at the Fire Hall starting at 6pm.  There’s food and beverages available for purchase.  Shafer Saloon will have a band after and Ole’s Crossroads will feature a DJ.

Saturday begins with  pancake breakfast at the Fire Hall that begins at 8am.  At 9am, the clues are posted for the missing clog.  Clues are posted hourly at City Hall.  In the ballfield, off of Redwing , find a petting zoo.  All along downtown you will find vendors including food trucks and a giant car show.  The famous bank robbery reenactment takes place at 12:30pm.  The grand day parade makes its way through town at 3:30pm and the night is capped off with “Uncle Chunk”  playing at Ole’s Crossroads.

Stagecoach Day is Saturday in Wyoming.  There are kids inflatables, kids’ painting area,  a car show, pie at the church, root beer floats at the bank,  and in the big tent you can play bingo.  Marty Sonnek will play under the tent at 4pm and “Skitzo Fonik” at 8pm.  The parade begins at 10am  and runs along East Viking Blvd and Railroad Blvd. Fireworks cap off the big day at Goodview Park, at 9pm.

Sunday is Almelund’s day in the spotlight. From 11am to 4 pm all are invited to come  enjoy all things apple. You will find vendors, awesome food including some incredible apple based desserts,  Come wander through the old schoolhouse museum as well as three beautiful restored log cabins filled with displays...a petting zoo and even old time movies shown inside one of the old buildings.  The event is always free.  They do ask people to leave dogs at home unless they are service dogs.  We will see you there! I promise to not eat all the apple turnovers.

How about that Packers game on Sunday?  

It started like the last three years have all started— with our quarterback getting injured and a rush of disappointment filling the room.  Once again, as I have done the last few years, I went out to the garage to do some putzing instead of wasting time being angry.  When I came in, the Vikings were mounting a valiant comeback (with a little help from the refs) and eventually beat the Pack by a considerable amount.  Who knows how the season will shake out, but one thing is clear - my garage has never been cleaner.
