Julie Ann (Thompson) Nussbaum, passed away May 9, 2003, at the age of 39 years, 3 months and 19 days.

Julie was born Jan. 21, 1964. She was baptized and confirmed at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, in St. Croix Falls, Wis.

Julie grew up in St. Croix Falls, Wis. She enjoyed training and showing her horse and her dog and brought home many ribbons and trophies. She was selected Dalles Saddle Club Queen in 1982.

Julie graduated from St. Croix Falls High School in 1982. While in school she participated in many school activities, including Concert Band, Honor Band, Jazz Ensemble, Concert Choir, Swing Choir and Piano Accompanist. Julie enjoyed being a football cheerleader and a wrestling cheerleader.

After graduation Julie attended Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College, in New Richmond, Wis., where she received an Associate Degree in Court Reporting. Julie was employed as a Court Reporter by Southwest Reporters, Inc. until she was appointed Official Court Reporter for the Kanabec County Courthouse, in Mora, Minn. Julie loved all those she associated with both personally and professionally. She continued to live in St. Croix Falls, Wis.

April 15, 1989, Julie married Mark Nussbaum and May 4, 1994, their son, Ryan was born. Julie’s greatest love was for her son and her family. To her parents, a perfect girl. Her love of life was complete in all aspects doing the activities she enjoyed.

Julie was a friend and an inspiration to all who knew her. Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her ability to always “think positive.”

Julie is survived by her son, Ryan Nussbaum and Ryan’s father, Mark Nussbaum; parents, Jim and Doris Thompson; brother, Tom Thompson and his wife, Elsa; nephew and godson, Eric Thompson; nieces: Meredith Thompson and Adeline Thompson; grandmother, Mildred Cross; godparents, Lyle and Pat Cross and many other relatives and numerous friends.

Julie is preceded in death by grandfather, Verle Cross and grandparents Jim and Agnes Thompson.

A funeral service was held May 14, 2003, at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Croix Falls, Wis., Pastor LeRoy Kaminski officiated. Soloist was Nancy Porter and organist was Bonnie Fehrenbacher. Pallbearers were Eric Thompson, Curtis Akenson, John Greenlee, Mike Spiess, Brian Wolfe, and Doug Berglund. Honorary pallbearers were: Judge Timothy Blomquist, Glenn “Red” Akenson, Pam Eibs, Ginger O’Brien, Wanda Jensen, Janet Carlson, Sue Strick, Sharon Wolfe, Lori Schlagel and Julie’s many friends in Court Administration.

Interment was at the St. Croix Falls Cemetery. Arrangements by Edling Funeral Home, St. Croix Falls, Wis.
