After a season of apprenticeship and reserve duty, the 5’11”, 274-pound Nelson was installed as the Dragons starting right tackle this past spring, starting every game for the red and white up front this season.
Minnesota State-Moorhead head coach Ralph Micheli has taken notice.
“Bert is a hard worker who does a good job for us at tackle,” said Micheli. “Bert is a first year starter for us, but he makes a good effort and will just get better and better in the future.”
A two year starter for the North Branch Vikings, Nelson served as captain his senior season and was presented with the Offensive Most Valuable Player Award. At Moorhead, the sophomore is a Pre-Engineering major.
As a team, MSU Moorhead is 2-8 overall heading into their final game of the season on Saturday versus Wayne State.
