Myrtle was born to emigrant parents in Amador Township Oct. 29, 1907, to Carl Victor Sellman and Anette Sophia Swenson Sellman. She was the youngest of 14 children. Myrtle was a lifelong resident of Chisago County. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Almelund. Prior to her marriage she was an elementary school teacher. She also worked at the Twin City Arsenal and was Chisago County Deputy Auditor for 14 years.
She was an active member of the Chisago Lake Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Center City, and was known as a ready volunteer with a friendly hello and a smile on her face. Myrtle was very strong in her faith and love of the Lord Jesus.
She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Russel Nelson; second husband, Ansgard Medin; eight brothers, five sisters, one grandson, and one daughter-in-law.
She is survived by sons: Ellwood (Sonia) Nelson, Lyle (Suzie) Nelson, Mylo (Barbara) Nelson; daughter, Anette (Craig) Swanson; stepsons: Lowell (Francis) Medin, Lyle (Delores) Medin; stepdaughters: Lois (Darwin) Berglund, Linda (Roger) Lindgren. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The celebration of Myrtle’s life was Friday, March 26, 2004, at Chisago Lake Evangelical Lutheran Church, Center City.
Memorials preferred to church or Margaret Parmly Residence, Chisago City.
