George was a kind, gentle man who will be remembered for his passion for life, his sense of humor, his hard work in whatever he chose to do, and always for his love of and his pride in his family.
George was born April 11, 1918, in Boston, Mass., and was raised in the Cannon Falls, MN area. He retired from Tastee Bakery, in St. Paul, in 1978 and moved to Danbury, WI in 1989 with his best friend Violet Swanson, where until very recently, he enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, 4- wheeling and gardening. George and Vi were active in Trinity Lutheran Church, where George sang with his beautiful rich voice.
He is preceded in death by wife, Gussie.
He is survived by best friend Violet Swanson and his beloved cocker spaniel Barney; sons: George Quist Jr. and Gary Quist; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister-in-law Lucille Quist; many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren and other relatives; Violet's children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren loved him as grandpa and will always feel blessed that George was part of their lives.
Funeral service 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Webster, WI. Visitation 4-8 p.m., Wednesday at Grandstrand Funeral home, Lindstrom, and one hour before service at church. Interment at Sunrise Cemetery, Sunrise, MN.
