Robert George “Bob” Allen, a retired custodian from Hazelden Foundation, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at his home from cancer, at the age of 74.

He was born in Winnebago, Minn., and moved to St. Paul at age 14. Bob served two years in the Army during the Korean War. He married Delores Magnuson Aug. 6, 1950.

Bob lived in Center City the last 32 years. He was a member of the American Legion, volunteered at Hazelden Foundation, and delivered Meals-on-Wheels.

His hobbies included walking, enjoying nature, playing horseshoes and cards. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Delores; daughter, Cindy (Butch) Phinn; son, Dennie (Debra) Allen; grandchildren: Christy (Greg) Haupt, Brian (Shari) Sheehan, Brandi and Adam Sheehan; great-grandchildren: Logan Sheehan and Jordan Haupt; sister, Ethel (Robert) Carr; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Meta Allen and brothers, Lawrence and Lloyd Allen.

Funeral service was Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, Center City. Grandstrand Funeral Home handled arrangements. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery, Center City.
