I’m sure by now you have heard about the missing teen in Aruba. She was on a trip with other teenage friends to celebrate their graduation from high school. High school. Since when is it normal to let your teenage children travel out of the country with friends and no adults to chaperone? If my children think they are going somewhere exotic when they graduate, they are absolutely without question, going to be disappointed. I am sure this girl was a terrific student and a terrific daughter but she was only 18 years old. It’s not so much that I don’t trust my children, it’s the people in a foreign city that you have no control over.

If you have driven through Lindstrom lately, you have probably seen the Veteran’s Memorial being erected. I cannot believe how quickly it is coming together. One day there are just holes in the ground and the next there are beautiful stone bases completely done. It is going to be a terrific addition to our city. There is still an opportunity to purchase a brick for the memorial. All around town you will find pamphlets for the memorial. If you have trouble locating one, just call us at the Press and we will get you in touch with the right people.

If you are a golfer, this summer will be full of opportunities to show off your swing. There are plenty of golf tournaments for you and your friends to enter. The best part is you get to golf and have a meal, while your money goes to charity. There is a Chisago Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce tournament, the annual Chisago Lakes Rotary Club tournament just to name a few. Check the County Press for details on signing up.

The annual Relay for Life is still looking for more teams to participate in this year’s relay. This is a wonderful event to raise money for the fight against cancer. If you can help in any way, please call Jody at 651-257-9366. We need to find a cure for cancer and this is your chance to help.

Congratulations to the Chisago Lakes boys baseball team, who as of yesterday (Tuesday), won both of their playoff games. They beat Duluth East and Grand Rapids to advance to the championship game of their section. Pat Collins does such a great job with all his teams. Good job and good luck.
