Senior Bobby Ferrier recorded his 100th career victory and the Chisago Lakes Wildcats wrestling team added to its regular season record for wins (20) by taking two out of three matches at the Rush City Triangular Tuesday, January 31.

The Wildcats lost to Aitkin 62-12 before coming back to beat Rush City 49-18. They beat conference opponent Irondale 52-18 Thursday, February 2 at Chisago Lakes High School.

Ferrier (32-2 this season) gained his 100th victory with a 15-0 technical fall over Ryan Wolf of Irondale. Ferrier, who wrestles at 140, was supposed to wrestle Irondale’s Ryan Clark, ranked number one in the state. Clark opted to wrestle at 135 instead. Ferrier’s brother Billy, who usually wrestles JV, matched up against Clark at 135 and was happy to hold Clark to a technical fall.

Bobby Ferrier said “I was disappointed that I didn’t get to wrestle the number one kid when I was going for my hundredth, but I was pretty excited to beat Wolf with a technical fall.

“The coach doesn’t tell us when we’re on our way to a milestone.” said Ferrier. “So I was keeping track myself and I knew this was my first shot at my one hundredth victory.” Ferrier has been on the varsity squad since ninth grade, which means he’s averaged 25 victories per year.

Dan Gemuenden (145) also reached a milestone against Irondale, beating Todd Hanson for his 60th career victory.
