The North Branch boys’ came in last in the conference standings but first as Academic All-Conference Team. The Academic Team is determined by class rank. The average class rank for varsity players is compared to other teams. The team with the highest average class rank is the All-Academic team.

The Vikings also won that honor for section 7AA and were just hundreths of a point away from capturing state honors. Senior Travis Peterson was chosen as a member of the individual All-Academic Minnesota team.

“We scored a 156 for a match, which ties the lowest score in six years,” Viking Coach Tom Moriarty pointed out as a hightlight for this year’s team.   “Thanks to Travis Peterson for his leadership, we will miss him next year. The good news for next year is we finished the year with one junior and four sophomores who now are match and tournament savy.”
