Family Pathways is adding a 15K run during Ki Chi Saga Days on Saturday, August 25, 2007. For the last 8 years the 5K run/walk brought out the competitors and families. We wanted to add a run that would challenge the competitors and still offer the 5K run/walk. Also new this year is chip timing by Pickle Events. The races begin at 8:00 am. Registration begins at 7:00am., however we encourage runners to pre-register and save $5.

The run/walks benefit the youth programs of Family Pathways. These include the Circle of Friends program that provides opportunities for special needs teens to develop peer friendships. The Teen Tech Centers that provide computers and supervised learning for underprivileged teens. D.R.E.A.M. girls helps girls make positive choices instead of living by chance. These programs are offered in Forest Lake, Chisago Lakes, North Branch, Rush City, Pine City, Cambridge/Isanti, Mora, Ogilvie, Hinckley and Onamia school districts.

Both runs begin and end at Zion Lutheran Church on Old Towne Road in Chisago City. The 5K route is the same as last year. The 15K will go north on Old Towne Road, east on Stinson with a turn around near the RiverBank, at Chuckie Lindquist Park runners will go through the tunnel under highway 8 and go north on Lofton to Wallmark Lake Drive. Once out on Stacy Trail the runners will go east 2 blocks to Marigold Lane, turn south and come out on North Ave., go back to and through the tunnel, west on Stinson, south on Old Towne Road and finish at Zion.

The entry fee is $20 for all ages, $25 after August 12, 2007. For groups or families of 5, it's $80 in advance, each additional runner is $15. Each participant receives a t-shirt and refreshments. Entertainment and music provided by Tim Ryan and Jim Moen. Medallions will be awarded for 1, 2 & 3 place finishers M/F in each age division, 9 and under, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29,30-39,40-49,50-59,60-69, over 70. Trophies go to 1st place overall M/F. Prizes for the largest group, the youngest racer m/f and the oldest racer. Each pre-registered entry will be entered in a drawing for a gift certificate.
