The Chisago Lakes/St. Croix Falls alpine skiing team continued its conference dominance by winning the Northwest Suburban Conference Ski Meet at Wild Mountain Tuesday, January 30.

The boys' team overwhelmed the other seven teams by earning 734 points, beating second place Irondale by more than 200 points. The Wildcats won the girls' event too. The CL/SCF skiers earned 454 points to beat runner-up Centennial by 90.

Seven Wildcat boys earned medals by finishing in the top 10 and all 10 team members finished in the top 15 places in the 80-skier event. Dominick Raedeke took first place with a time of 47.86 seconds givtng his team a big lift. Mitch Peterson, Andrew Wagner and Dan Sandgren swept positions three through five for the 'Cats.

"Stepping up in this race were Daniel Boyer and Allen Nickelson with their best race, taking sixth and seventh" said Wildcat head coach Dan Raedeke. Phil Bottjen also earned a medal for the Wildcats by finishing tenth. "I was very impressed," the coach added.

Sarah Bottjen led the Wildcat girls by placing first for CL/SCF. Two other Wildcats, Simone Raedeke (4) and Melinda Beyer (5), earned medals and all 10 finished in the top 42 in the 66 skier race. "Raedeke and Beyer really stepped up for us," the Wildcat coach added.
