Roger was born December 19, 1933, at Ridgeland, Wis., to Rodney and Marian Shipley.
He served his country in the Army Airborne and received an Honorable Discharge. July 3, 1960, he married Eva Rae Alexander in Mitchell, SD., and on August 22, 1998, he married Chee Chee Brune at Duluth.
He worked in auto parts sales and flower delivery. Roger enjoyed fishing, softball, hockey, sports in general and spending time with family and friends.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Jane Shipley; Marian and Joe Thibault.
He is survived by his wife, Chee-Chee; children: Mark Shipley, Dawnelle Horvath, Brent Shipley, Bryan Gilbrech, Jason (Mel) Gilbrech, Anita (Kevin) Linnell, Aaron (Crissy) Gilbrech; grandchildren: Neal Shipley, Jesse and Leah Horvath, Zach and Kya Linnell, Kody Hibbard, Danielle and Kayla Steele; brother, Rodney (Betty) Shipley; sister, Mavis Marinenko; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 5-8 p.m., at the Grandstrand Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Lakes Free Church, in Lindstrom, with Pastor Tom Geselle, officiating. Private interment will be in the Calvary Lutheran Cemetery at Rush Point.
