Wildcat boys lose to high-scoring Robbinsdale-Cooper team
"We played a decent game," said Chisago Lakes head coach Jangor, "but, in order to upset a good team like that, on the road, everything has to go right." The game plan included patience and three-point shooting by the 'Cats outside threats.
"We didn't execute our game plan very well in the first half," Jangor said. Senior guards Tyler Bouwens and Chris Golv each hit a pair of three's in the first half and Josh Figini's inside work resulted in seven before the break. However, those three were the only 'Cats who scored, as the visitors fell behind 32-21.
The Wildcats had a better offensive performance after the intermission. Seven Wildcats scored in the second half. Led by the inside work of Joe Knafla and Figini, who each scored 10 second-half points, and Golv, who added nine to his total, CL put 38 points on the board in the second half.
However, that wasn't enough to keep pace with the 18-5 Hawks who are 15-2 in the North Suburban Conference. Led by Dennis Williamson's game-high 25 points, Cooper built a 20 point lead before the Wildcats came back. But, down the stretch, they never threatened the Hawks.
"It was a good effort. We did the little things, but needed more scoring to keep up with them," Jangor continued. "Brian Jennissen had eight rebounds and Zach Sill grabbed six."
