Gemuenden also received offers from Iowa Central College, the University of Minnesota at Duluth, Southwest State - Marshall and Northern Iowa Community College. The University of Minnesota, St. Scholastica and Bemidji State University were also interested in Gemuenden. When asked why he picked Winona, Gemuenden replied, "They have a good school, nice coaches, nice players and a good baseball program."
Gemuenden plans to major in physical education and minor in coaching while at Winona. He'd like to go into high school coaching or sports team management when he graduates. He also said, "If I get the opportunity to play beyond college, I'll pursue a career in baseball as far as it will take me.
"My family is excited and I am, too. This will be a whole new level of baseball. I'll also have to make sure to keep up in school. I'm looking forward to the challenge. And it's a lot less stressful now that I've decided which school to attend," Gemuenden added.
Catcher Kyle Collins, son of Wildcat head coach Pat Collins, also plays at Winona State.
