Glenn Thomas Rutledge, of Lindstrom, died Aug. 31, 2007, at the age of 64, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. He was born to Russell and Ruth (Jacobson) Rutledge April 18, 1943, in New Richmond, Wis.

After graduating from New Richmond High School in 1961 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years.

In 1966, he married Mary Ellen Quay and moved to North St. Paul, Minn. He and Mary Ellen were married for 22 years until her death in 1988. He was a devoted father to daughters: Amy and Tracy who were born in 1969. Glenn worked at Normark Corporation for 29 years as a warehouse foreman.

In 1989 Glenn married Jeanette Sargent and his family expanded to include her son, Mike and daughter, Kari.

Glenn will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his generosity and loyalty to his friends. He enjoyed fixing things, from cars to projects around the house to old tractors. He was a man of his word and had a wonderful sense of humor.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and all who were blessed to know him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Russel and Ruth Rutledge; stepmother, Wilma Rutledge; first wife, Mary Ellen; daughter, Tracy Ann and stepbrother, Bill Boge.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette; his devoted daughter, Amy (Patrick) Stingl, of Duluth; stepson, Mike (Debbie) Karlson, of Brainerd; stepdaughter, Kari (Eric) Ooten, of Inver Grove Heights; seven grandchildren: Alec, Molly, Hattie, Sonoma, Matthew, Erika and Timothy; brothers: Gail Rutledge, Robert (Joan) Rutledge, both of New Richmond, Wis.; sisters: Doris (Mike) Boge, of Long Beach, Calif.; Jeannie Martell, of Princeton, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at Grandstrand Funeral Home, in Lindstrom, with Rev. Ron Hackman officiating. Music by Christine Bjorklund. Visitation is 5-8 p.m., Tuesday and one hour prior to service on Wednesday. Interment at Hillside Cemetery, Center City, Minn.
