Wendy is preceded in death by her parents Arvid and Agnes Elmstrand, brother-in-law Lyle Stenberg, niece Renee Armstrong. Survived by siblings Emillie Stenberg, Carole Markusson, Donald (Roberta) Elmstrand, Jean (Henry) Egelkraut and Sandra, Jeffery, Danial, John, Rachel, Eric, Teresa, Rusten, Christen, Lesley, Travis and Kelly Rae; 29 Great nieces and nephews Jack, Calvin, Emillie, Nicholas, Amilyn, Jeannie, Joseph, Zachary, James, Kevin, Douglas, Susan, Ashley, Courtney, Skylar, Alexander, Alysha, Andrew, Jessica, James, Jacob, Shelby, Ryan, Travis, Kelsey, Brianna, Paula, Seth & Sadie.
Wendy was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch. She attended and graduated from North Branch Schools.
At the age of 17 Wendy was involved in a car accident that unfortunately left her paralyzed. After recovering at Miller Hospital, she returned home. Wendy wrote a column for the local paper and also worked as a secretary for Henrys Oil Company. It was during this time that Wendy discovered her love and talent for painting. Much of her artwork was shared with family and displayed at art shows.
Wendy then spent time at Courage Center developing her skills for independent living. She attended college and completed an Associated Degree in business from Metro State University.
In 1988 Wendy started to work for Mike Dreier at Minnesota Independent Living Services, where she worked until her illness prevented her from continuing.
Wendy made her home in Minneapolis and loved having everything close by. She was an active member of the Perfect Squares for many years and formed many close and long lasting friendships. She enjoyed trips to Florida and cruises to Panama and Hawaii.
She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Interment is at Trinity Cemetery in North Branch later this summer.
