The Swanberg family was well-represented, with three brothers taking part. Devin Swanberg, a senior at Hamline University, finished eighth in the high jump with a height of 6 feet, 5 inches. He was cheered on by his older brother Shane Swanberg, the jumps coach at Hamline. His younger brother Christian Swanberg, a sophomore at Hamline, finished eighth in the 200 meters with a time of 22.87 seconds and also participated in the 400 meter event.
Chisago Lakes' other track and field connection at Hamline, freshman Brenna Coyle, finished seventh in the weight throw (formerly known as the hammer throw) with a distance of 46 feet, 8 inches. She also competed in the shot put.
Gustavus Adolphus was represented by senior John Leaf, who ran in the 5000 meter and 3000 meter events, and sophomore Chris Golv, who participated in the high jump. Kara Orwoll, a junior at St. Benedict's, ran in the 800 meter and 1000 meter events. Orwoll's father Ken is the track coach at Chisago Lakes High School. He attended the meet to cheer on his daughter and the rest of the contingent from Chisago Lakes. Ken Orwoll said "I'm very proud of the fact that Chisago Lakes was so well-represented at this meet. It's a testament to the hard work and dedication shown by these talented athletes as they continue their track careers beyond high school."
