Fitzer started in both games for the Yellowjackets during the week and produced shutouts in both efforts. He tallied 14 saves against regional rival, St. Scholastica on October 28th including a blocked penalty kick in the second half. Fitzer's effort helped the Jackets claim a 0-0 draw in the match. Fitzer then went on to shut out Lawrence University in their Halloween matchup. He picked up 3 saves in the Yellowjackets' 1-0 victory.
The junior goalkeeper dominated the Jackets' late stretch picking up 3 saves in as many matches. After splitting time for much of the season with junior goalkeeper, Jeremy McKay, Fitzer replaced his counterpart in a game at UM-Morris on October 20th. With just under 22 minutes remaining in the match, Fitzer didn't allow a goal. In fact, he wouldn't let a ball cross his goal line for the remainder of the season as he went on to finish out the Yellowjackets' season with 332 minutes of scoreless soccer and a 1-0-2 record in his final 3 games.
Fitzer is the fourth Yellowjacket to receive the award this season. He is joined by UW-Platteville's Kyle Hoerter who was named WIAC's offensive athlete of the week.
