Alice Marie Anderson, of Lindstrom, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at Villages of North Branch, in North Branch, Minnesota.

She was born Alice Marie Forsberg on July 14, 1918, in Iron Mountain, Michigan. When she was 15, her family moved to a farm in Pine Creek, Michigan. In 1936, Alice graduated from Quinnesec High School. After high school, she lived for a short time in Chicago where she trained to be a beautician.

On November 19, 1942, Alice married Eugene Roland Anderson of Lindstrom. She and Eugene made their home on the Anderson farm, north of Lindstrom. Known as Peninsula Farm, it has been in the Anderson family since 1853. Alice lived on the farm until May, 2000, when Alzheimer's disease forced her move to Green Acres Nursing Home, and later The Villages.

Alice enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, fishing, travel, picnics, cooking and baking. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a sharp wit. As a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday school, participated in circle, and sang in the church choir. Her almond coffee bread was a favorite at yearly church bake sales. She was a devoted wife and mother, taking particular joy in her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene; her parents Victor and Karolina Forsberg, and four siblings.

Alice is survived by her son Mark Anderson and wife Kathy Delmont of Lindstrom; daughter Lee Gill and husband Robert of Edina; daughter Julie Beck and husband George of St. Louis Park; sisters and brothers Viola Smith, Harold Forsberg, and Walter Forsberg, all of Michigan; and grandchildren Emily, Mark, Joe, Carolyn, and Amy.

A memorial service was Tuesday, Nov. 24, at the First United Methodist Church, Lindstrom. Private interment at the Methodist Cemetery in Center City.
