Charles Holsworth

Charles M. Holsworth, age 57 of North Branch died on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at the Cambridge Medical Center in Cambridge.

Charles was born on March 26, 1952 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Alfred and Evelyn (Shimmin) Holsworth. He graduated from Centennial High School in 1970. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1974. He received his Masters Degree from St. Thomas in 1980. Charles' first job out of college was a teacher and coach at Gibbon from 1974 to 1977. He moved to North Branch and was a teacher from 1977 to 1983 and also served as head football coach from 1979 to 1981 and assistant football coach from 1995 to 2001. Charles has been a Financial Advisor since 1981 to present. He married Bonnie Bisek on June 9, 1972. He was a member of the North Branch Golf League, St. Gregory's Catholic Church where he served on the Finance Committee and was a Eucharistic Minister. His hobbies included golf, fishing, football and marble collecting. He was a member of the Midwest Marble Club. His football career started at Centennial High School (1966 to 1969), Gustavus Adolphus College (1970 to 1973). He tried out for the Dallas Cowboys in 1974. Served as head football coach in Gibbon from 1974 to 1975 and was linebackers coach at Gustavus Adolphus College in 1976. He truly enjoyed spending time with family at the cabin on Wymer Lake near Frazee.

Charles is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Heidi (Chris) Tertipes of Las Vegas, NV; sons, Matthew of Killeen, TX and Chris of St. Paul; sister, Pam (Bob) Wentz of Sturgis, S.D. and special uncle, Bob (Jayne) Fuller of Golden Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Evelyn and a brother, Alfred.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 from St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in North Branch with Fr. Shane Wasinger officiating. Music will be provided by Cathie Hendren, Mindy Lattimore and Anthony Harstedt. Reader will be Dan Cervenka. Serving as casketbearers will be Doug Beck, Bob Fuller, Bob Wentz, Larry Mollins, Eric Reimann, Dean Bergdahl, Ryan Schlagel and Larry Schlagel. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch and one hour prior to Mass at church on Friday. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at North Branch.
