The U12 boys Wildcats entered the state tournament the one seed in the north , but faced some tough teams from the south and east. On Saturday, July 24, the squad faced Mankato, the one seed from the south. With its excellent speed and discipline, Mankato was able to get a 4-0 lead on the Chisago Club, and a late goal by Austin Larson was not enough to escape a 4-1 defeat.

On Tuesday, July 27, the boys faced Waseca, who had tied Mankato on Sunday. The Wildcats were set on ending the season with a win and came out hard. About 15 minutes into the first half, Tyler Haus scored an airborn goal off of a Nick Pautz corner kick to give the Wildcats its first lead; it was shortlived. Moments later, a Waseca player carried the ball down the left sideline and scored in the high corner.

The game remained tied through the half and deep into the second half. With about five minutes remaining, Pautz made a move at the top of the penalty area, found a seam, and buried a goal to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead. Although Waseca tried hard, they were unable to tie it up in the remaining minutes and the Wildcats did end the season with a win.

The win was enough to finish in second place in its pool, but not enough to advance to the championship game.

Still, it was a season full of goals achieved. "The boys wanted to win enough games to advance to C2 competetion next year, and they did that," said head coach Andy Brink. "They also wanted to be league champs and go to the state tournament, and achieved those goals too.

"Coach Pat (Tepoorten) and I couldn't be more proud of how these boys played this year," Brink said. "They all grew as players and as young men. They learned to overcome challenges and face hurdles as a team."
