Fun and good weather prevails at Aug. 16 Tee Up for Hospice Tourney

In the past 22 years, the annual Tee Up for Hospice golf tournament has raised more than $220,000 to support hospice services. Proceeds of the annual golf benefit help support hospice services provided by Fairview Lakes HomeCaring & Hospice and Camp Triumph, a weekend camp for grieving children.

Corporate sponsors of this year's event, held Aug. 16 at Chisago Lakes Golf Course, included Plastic Products Company and Zinpro. Major sponsors included Wally Carlson & Sons BP, Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care/Fairview Lakes Medical Center. Many other businesses sponsor holes, events and donate prizes.

Winning trophies this year were:

Men's Division (front nine)-First place, five under with five birdies: Tom Wilson, Steve Wilson, Dave Carlson, Pete Smothers and Chris Slettom; Second place in a tie breaker with five birdies, five under: Greg Hickox, Bruce Johnson, Jeff Fusco, Jim Friend and Walt Kalen.

Women's Division (back nine)--First place: one over: Maggie Wilcox, Ellen Wilcox, Kathy Pharmer, Jen Barie and Michelle Eriksen; second place, four over: Pat Moe, Patty Haider, Kim Maguire, Dawn Rolfnus and Amanda Schulze.

Mixed Men's and Women's Division (back nine)-- First place, three under: Bea Zaruba, Myron Zaruba, Michelle Gillespie, Tim Zaruba and Mark Zaruba; Second place, three under, three birdies: Gary Palmquist, Brenda Palmquist, Greg Mlekoday, Dorothy Mlekoday and Gary Lankey.

No one scored a hole-in-one to win $1,000 in cash. Guaranteed prizes winners were drawn from among those who made the green on two par three holes. Prizes included $250 in gas from Wally Carlson & Sons BP and a $250 U.S. Savings Bond from Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care. Mike Shaughnessy won the Savings Bond.
