Gladys E. Peterson of Chisago City formerly of Shafer, died Friday, Dec. 17 at Parmly Life Pointes at the age of 93.

Gladys was born July 11, 1917 at Renfrew, Ontario to Jack and Alice Donovan. The family moved east from there, living in New Jersey until she was 10 at which point they moved to Minnesota. She graduated from Forest Lake High School in 1934. Gladys met and married Carl A. Peterson on September 26, 1935. They lived and farmed in the Shafer area raising four children. Gladys especially enjoyed clerking at the Coast to Coast store in Lindstrom. She always tended a large vegetable and flower garden. After Carl's death in 1991 she moved to Heather Creek Apartments in Chisago City and then to the Parmly Residence in 2007.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Carl and son Kenneth. She is survived by her daughters Marian and Dorothy, son Herold; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.

Memorial services were Wednesday, Dec. 22 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. Private interment will be in Chisago Lake Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.grandstandfh.com.
