At halftime of the boys basketball game against North Branch last week, Chisago Lakes recognized their Minnesota State High School League award winners for their contributions to the school.

The Triple 'A' Award winners are above. Seniors Steve Wagner and Ali Turnquist were presented their awards by Chisago Lakes principal Dave Ertl.

Ertl also presented the ExCEL Award to junior Ryan Merry.

Claire Habel was the female recipient of the ExCEL Award, but prior commitments kept her from attending the game.

The purpose of the Triple 'A' Award is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in the fine arts, to elevate academic standards and create greater awareness of League-sponsored activities and their values, and to provide member schools of the League with the opportunity to participate in a statewide program that supports, promotes, and recognizes academic and extra-curricular achievements.

The ExCEL Award stands for Excellence in Community, Education and Leadership. The award is a unique recognition program designed exclusively for Minnesota high school juniors who are active in school activities, who show leadership qualities, and who are model citizens.
