Janet Margaret Hofmann, age 84, of Lindstrom, MN, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on January 18, 2010.

Janet was born November 22, 1925 to John and Nettie Eichten in Wanda, MN where her and her 10 siblings were raised on the Eichten Family Farm, in Willow Lake Township. She attended public school in Wanda, MN and graduated in Lamberton. One night at the age of 16, Janet and her mother went to a dance where she danced with the love of her life, Frank Hofmann, for the first time. They married on the Eichten Family Farm November 11, 1943 and moved to Sandborn, MN were Frank worked at the Creamery. It was there they had their first two children Margaret and Richard. In 1946 they moved to Revere, MN to start farming and had three more children Robert, Barbara, and Marlene. In 1952 the family moved to a farm six miles east of Wanda, MN and they had their last two children Ronald and Beverly. Janet raised prize winning laying hens and loved to garden. She canned and cooked for her family and friends. In 1959 they moved to a farm in Center City, MN with all six children. They lived there for nine years until they moved to a house in Lindstrom, MN (with the two youngest children Ronald and Beverly) and have lived there 42 years.

Some passions she had were making quilts for grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren, singing with her sister Rosella at community nursing homes. Janet was the president of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Bridget's, and loved going to church every Sunday with her husband Frank. Janet and Frank also loved spending time together traveling, snowmobiling, dancing and entertaining family and friends at their home.

Janet is survived by her beloved family; husband of 66 amazing years Frank Hofmann; five children, Margaret (Dave Chilko) Jenniges, Richard (Anita) Hofmann, Marlene (Bruce) George, Ronald (Kay) Hofmann, and Beverly (Gary) Peterson; 23 grandchildren, Kevin (Donna), Daniel (Colleen), Tamera, Paul (Mary), Teresa (Patrick), Mark (Jackie), Scott (Fiancé Cassie), Ann (Jeff), Kimberly (Friend Norm Thoreen), Michele (Tim), Tracey (Fiancé Brandon), Kennedy (Jean), Paul, John (Amy), Jewel (Rich), Lori, Jodi (Lacroy), Jeremy (Linda), Amy, Keith (Jessica), Jason, Jessica, and Jamie; 41 great-grandchildren, and three great-great- grandchildren.

Janet is proceeded in death by her parents John and Nettie Eichten; Siblings Madeline Hagert, John Eichten, Melvin Eichten, Ralph Eichten, Joseph Eichten, Ray Eichten, Ephraim Eichten, Grace Eichten, Rosella Wille, Everett Eichten; children Robert Hofmann and Barbara Hofmann, and grandchildren Tad George and Ronald Hofmann Jr.

Many thanks to all the Chisago County Hospice Care and Nurses and all the loving neighbors, friends and family who came to visit, throughout these past months.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. at St. Bridget's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Lindstrom, MN with Father Bill Whitter, and Father Mark Wehmann officiating. Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Lindstrom, following Mass of Christian Burial.

Casket bearers are Kevin Jenniges, Daniel Jenniges, Paul Jenniges, Mark Jenniges, Kennedy Hofmann, Jeremy Carlson, Keith Hofmann, Jason Hofmann, Paul Hofmann, John Hofmann, and Scott Chilko.
