Lloyd T. Rivard died Tuesday, June 15 at his home in Taylors Fall, at the age of 86.

Lloyd was born March 21, 1924 in Taylors Falls to Arthur and Lillian Rivard. He graduated from Taylors Falls High School in 1942. He attended Dunwoody Tech. In 1944 he entered the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. On October 26, 1946 he married Mary Elizabeth Palmer, at Taylors Falls. Lloyd owned and operated a sporting goods store for many years, raised pigs, was a butter maker and co-owned Val Croix Ski Area. He was the first 30 year Firearms safety instructor, being presented with the Golden Musket Award by the Minnesota DNR. He was a strong civic leader in the community. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, cross-country skiing, cutting wood, was an avid sportsman, and produced maple syrup, but his family was his main interest.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Earl, Kenneth, Myles Rivard, sisters Evelyn North and Lucille Green. He is survived by his wife Mary, sons Scott (Terry), Todd (Mary Ann), Kevin (Jodi); daughter Roxanne (Jim) McGurk, brother Leland Rivard, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Mass Saturday, June 19 at the Church of St. Joseph in Taylors falls by Fr. Dan Bodin. Private interment in Kahbakong Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.grandstrandfh.com.
