Chisago Lakes C Squirt Team wins first ever District 10 Championship

The Chisago Lakes C Squirt Team ended their season by making CLHA history, winning the first ever District 10 Championship in Anoka, coached by Aaron Slagle, Jeremy Nephew and Tim Zaruba. Game one was a blowout victory, 9-0 vs. Centennial with Carl Nephew and Jace Meierhoff both with a hat trick. Game two vs. St. Francis was a close 3-1 win with goals by Carter Mohs, Jace Meierhoff and Austin Kirchner. Game three vs. Anoka maroon was a tough fight with a 5-4 win. The goalie, Travis Olson made phenomenal saves throughout the game. It wasn't until after the tournament that the team found out that Travis was playing the final two periods of game three and the championship game with a broken glove hand. The championship game vs. St. Cloud Red was a nail biter. Chisago Lakes won 3-2 after three periods of regulation, one overtime period and five rounds of shootouts. Jace Meierhoff scored two goals in regulation. Carl Nephew scored one in the shootout and was matched by St. Cloud. Injured goalie, Travis Olson stopped the next two rounds by St. Cloud and there were two misses by Chisago. The final round Travis stopped St. Cloud and Brock Thorson was chosen to take the next shot. He went to center ice and put it past the St. Cloud Goalie for the Championship win. Congratulations to the Chisago Lakes C team on a great season.
