Marjorie was born May 18, 1921 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Robert and Anna Belle Copenharve.
Preceded in death by husband Elliott L. Hawkinson, Marjorie is survived by son Rob (Sally) of Shafer, grandchildren Nils (Stephanie) Hawkinson, of Shafer, Elin Hawkinson of New York City, and great grandchildren Kylie and Elias Hawkinson, Shafer. Marjorie left behind extended family relatives and numerous friends.
Marjorie grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from West High School. Marjorie earned a bachelors of science degree in Medical Technology from the University of Minnesota and began her professional career in 1943. After graduation she worked in several hospitals, including Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis and St. Croix Valley Memorial Hospital in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. Marjorie retired as supervisor of the hospital laboratory at St. Croix Valley Memorial Hospital in 1985, and maintained close ties with her colleagues throughout her life. Marjorie married Elliott, September 20, 1947 and exchanged a city life for one on the farm. An active life-long member with Elliott in their church, Chisago Lake Lutheran, Marjorie sang in the choir as long as she was able and regularly attended church services. One of Marjorie and Elliott's favorite pursuits was fishing in the lakes on their farm. She enjoyed flower gardening and was an avid Twins fan. Many remember Marjorie for her active participation in her church and love of family.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom and one hour prior to service at church on Friday. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City.
Internment at Hillside Cemetery at Center City.
