William J. Ihlenfeldt, of Chisago City, died Tuesday, May 10 at Parmly LifePointes at the age of 82.

Bill was born June 20, 1928 in Mellen, WI to George and Katherine Ihlenfeldt. He graduated from Luther Wright High School in Ironwood, MI in 1946. He attended Gogebic Community College and graduated from Moorhead State College in Minnesota with a Bachelors Degree. He served in the US Navy from 1946 to 1948. He married Edvina Noto.

On February 3, 1978 he married Carmen Roy at Anoka. He taught for over 26 years in the Centennial School system. Bill was the first football coach, coached wrestling and was the first Aquatics Director. In his free time Bill enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, reading, family and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Susan Jane Ihlenfeldt; sister Elsie Sellhausen, and infant brother George. He is survived by his wife Carmen; daughters Katherine (Kevin) Dunaway of Columbus, MN; Nancy (Mark) McNay of Iuka, KS; son Richard Ihlenfeldt of Columbus, MN; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; siblings Carolyn Mukautz of Ironwood, James (Karen) Ihlenfeldt, of Green Bay, Donald (Pat LeDaux) Ihlenfeldt of Blaine, Georgeann (Ken) Baumann of Green Bay, step-children Vicky Roy of Duluth, Terrance Roy Jr. of Wayzata, Brett Roy of White Pine, MI; three step-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren.

Family will greet friends 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 20 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Memorial services at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom.
