Hermantown 5, Chisago Lakes 0 Visiting Hermantown broke open a scoreless tie with three runs in the fifth inning and added two more in the sixth to shut out the Wildcats 5-0 on Saturday, April 14 at Chisago Lakes. Just two Wildcats reached base in the game. Kelly Schommer walked in the third inning and Kayla Checkalski singled in the fourth. Fifteen Wildcats struck out. Irondale 7, Chisago Lakes 0 Irondale pitcher Maggie Schley no-hit the Wildcats as the Knights beat the Wildcats 7-0 Tuesday, April 17 at Irondale. The Wildcats had just three baserunners for the game, all of them reaching on walks. Chisago Lakes 11, Fridley 1 (5 innings) The Wildcats scored six runs in the third inning and crushed Fridley 11-1 last Thursday, April 19 in front of the home crowd at Chisago Lakes. The game was shortened to five innings because of the ten-run rule. In the bottom of the fifth and the Wildcats leading 10-1, Miranda Beimert led off with a double and scored one out later when Delaney Doriott reached on an error. That gave the Wildcats a ten-run lead and ended the game. Doriott led the Wildcat attack with three hits, including a double, and two runs scored in four at bats. Megan Nelson had two hits, including a two run double in the first. Beimert had two hits and scored two runs. Haley Gajeski, starting in left field, singled, walked and scored twice. Sam Sandretto pitched all five innings to pick up the win, allowing one run on just three hits, walking two and striking out five. The Wildcats (1-4) will play three straight conference road games over the next week, with all of the games starting at 4:30. They’ll take on St. Louis Park today at Aquila Park. Nest Monday, April 30 they will play at St. Francis. And on Wednesday, May 2 they will head up County Road 14 to butt heads with archrival North Branch.
