he Wildcats hosted the four-team Chisago Lakes Wrestling Legends Tourney this past weekend and finished second to Big Lake.  Four Wildcats finished first in their respective weight classes – Kyle Schoenecker (106), Dylan Connell (113), Quade Zupko (132) and Chase Kammerer (285).  Kammerer pinned all three of his opponents.
Wildcat head coach Shawn Frederixon seemed a little disappointed with his team’s overall performance.  “Big Lake was better that night,” he said.  “Their kids wrestled well.  But there are definitely some things we need to improve on.”  Frederixon talked about some of the individual performers who stood out.  He said “Our four champions in the tourney have been consistent performers this year and they did it once again.  We got Carson Velaski in there at 138.  He got a couple of pins and finished second.  He did a real nice job.  And at 126, Joe Olinger won his first match.  In his second match, he got the guy on his back late and almost pinned him.  He finished second and had a good day wrestling, as well.
