Ruby was born in Bismarck, North Dakota on January 18, 1934 to parents, Eugene and Mina (Merritt) Moore. She was just an infant when her family moved to the Lindstrom area where she attended school through the ninth grade, at which time she married Warren Shogren on October 25, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Northwood, Iowa.
