SECTION 7AA TEAM TOURNAMENT
North Branch 39, Hinckley Finlayson 28
The fourth-seeded Viking wrestlers led by five points going into the final match of their opening round dual against fifth-seeded Hinckley Finlayson at the Section 7AA team tournament.  Mathematically, Hinckley still had a chance to win the match with a pin.  But there was no way Seamus Hunter (285) was going to allow that to happen.  He pinned Jordan Hecht at 4:48 to clinch a 39-28 win over Hinckley and move the Vikings on to a quarterfinal matchup against top-seeded Milaca later that evening.

Milaca 54, North Branch 12
Unfortunately, the Vikings’ next opponent was number one seeded Milaca.  The Vikings scored points at just three weights.  Jake Pilz (132) decisioned Mike Hoffman 7-5; Pat Mork (160) decisioned Josh Otten; and Zack Sundly (182) pinned Josh Majerus.  Milaca cruised to a 51-12 win over the Vikings.  Not surprisingly, Milaca ended up beating Mora in the finals of the section tournament and will be making their perennial visit to the state tournament.

COACHING CHANGE
Longtime Viking head coach Tony Aho is not currently coaching the Vikings.  Aho coached the Vikings through most of the regular season this year.  His future status with the team is unknown.  His current status can likely be characterized as suspended, but Aho and North Branch officials would not comment on the reasons for Aho’s current status.

SECTION 7AA INDIVIDUAL TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
Pat Mork (152) is the only current Viking with state tournament experience.  Mork has a very good shot at making his third straight tournament appearance this year.  Several other Vikings will have a shot at making it to the state tournament this year, as well.  The most likely candidates for an appearance are Aaron Senne (113), Jake Pilz (132), and Zack Sundly (182).
