Warren was born in Osceola, Wisconsin June 23, 1948, to parents Earl and Eleanore (Succo) Nelson. Warren graduated from high school in Lindstrom and entered the U.S. Navy where he served his country in Vietnam from December 1967 to December 1973. After military service he farmed in the Lindstrom area for 10 years before becoming a self employed carpenter. Warren would eventually take a job as a Corrections Officer at the Lino Lakes Prison where he would work until he retired after he was diagnosed with M.S. He loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and riding the ATV. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal for his military duties.
He is survived by his life companion of 22 years, Kathleen M. Kelley; daughter Cora (Jamie) Olson of Ham Lake; son Wade (Jodi) Nelson of Lindstrom; grandchildren, Roman, Madisyn, Corbin and Taylor; mother Eleanore Nelson of Danbury, WI; sister, Judy (Gary) Johns of Walker; brothers; Clare Nelson of Shafer, Gary Nelson of Princeton and Myles (Wanda) Nelson of Danbury, WI; stepsons David (Tina) Kelley and Kevin (Paula) Kelley; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Earl Nelson.
Memorial Services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom with Fr. Mark Wehmann officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Saturday. Private family interment at a later date.
